Strawberry + Chia Jam

Strawberry + Chia Jam

Have you ever made your own jam? It’s, like, stupid easy. And wayyy better for you than store-bought versions (at least this recipe is 😉).

If you over-did it at the market buying fresh berries and have some leftover that are about to turn, do not panic! Just grab a sauce pan and some chia seeds and get jamming! 😂

For every cup of strawberries you will need 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. Feel free to get fancy with a squeeze of lemon juice or touch of sweetener to taste, but I tried several variations of this jam and happened to love the simple 2-ingredient version best 😊. But my strawberries were very sweet and flavorful on their own, so feel free to adjust flavors and sweetness to your liking.

I imagine other types of berries like raspberries or blueberries would work here too, even frozen berries. And did I mention this recipe takes just 10 minutes to make?

You are going to want to put this jam on everything. Toast, oatmeal, straight out of the jar with a spoon… (don’t judge), and with these cashew butter cookies (trust me.. match made in heaven 😍).

I am so in love with the simplicity and deliciousness of this homemade jam… I really can’t imagine buying store-bought again!

Strawberry + Chia Jam

Cook Time10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 cups strawberries fresh or frozen
  • 3 Tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

  • Add strawberries to a sauce pan and cook on medium heat until they start releasing juices and breaking down.
  • Mash up the strawberries with a potato masher or fork. I like my jam mostly smooth but with some strawberry chunks here and there.
  • Add chia seeds and stir to mix. Cook until the jam has thickened up, about 10 minutes.
  • Transfer to a jar to cool and store in the fridge. Spread on everything and enjoy!
